GUARDIAN ANGELS OF TRUMBULL COUNTY
FRIENDS OF THE ELDERLY . . . BECAUSE NO ONE SHOULD BE ISOLATED BY AGE
The Guardian Angels of Trumbull County is a program operated by the Trumbull County Probate Court where volunteers reach out in friendship to people who are alone and either elderly or disabled in Trumbull County. The program utilizes trained volunteers to provide companionship for the elderly and disabled in the community. Background checks are conducted on all volunteers.
Throughout the program's existence, volunteers and the individuals they have visited have formed long-lasting friendships that have enriched both the lives of the elderly and disabled persons and the lives of the volunteers themselves.
Many volunteers visit the elderly and disabled at various nursing home facilities throughout the area. The volunteers visiting the individuals reach out in friendship and talk with the individual. The volunteers notify the Court if the individuals are experiencing any problems that need to be addressed.
Some volunteers call the elderly or disabled on the telephone for regular conversations. Though the volunteer may not be personally seeing the elderly or disabled individuals, they provide valuable companionship and serve as a safe person for the individuals to communicate with.
The volunteers also conduct special projects, such as making decorations for local nursing home residents or working on events that residents may attend.
The Guardian Angels of Trumbull County and the Trumbull County Probate Court are always looking for additional volunteers.
